Here at Ground Control, we like The Phoenix Foundation. We like 'em so much, we reviewed them. We're pretty sure you'd like them too, if their album was available in the States yet. But it ain't – the release date for Horsepower has been pushed back to June 5th. Why, you may ask? Because it's all about capitalizing nowdays, m'boy! See, the band is contributing six songs and scoring three more for the film Eagle vs. Shark, an "off-beat romantic comedy" from New Zealand (where The Phoenix Foundation is from, natch). The film stars Jermaine Clement, who is both one-half of the acoustic rock/comedy duo Flight of the Conchords and also the guy from those Outback Steakhouse commercials. You know, the ones that use that Of Montreal song? Yeah, that's where you've heard it before. It's Of Montreal.
Anyway, if you can't wait that long to listen to The Phoenix Foundation (and you shouldn't), then check them out in The Leak.
Here's Flight of the Conchords. They're Funny:
