After an illuminating and enlightening reissue endeavor undertaken in 2010 which saw The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion get heavy again in their re-examinations of albums like Now I Got Worry, Orange, Acme and Extra Width, the band has elected to go in the polar opposite direction for Meat And Bone – their newest effort and first offering of new material in eight years. "We still have that psychic glue that allows us to create music together,” says Spencer boldly of what he, guitarist Judah Bauer and drummer Russell Simins discovered about themselves as their reissue campaign took them to the road and found them playing on some of the most dynamic and celebrated concert stages in the world. “Over the course of a year touring and writing new songs and recording, we rediscovered our shared history as a band. We circled the wagons, and went back to our roots. In a way, this is almost like another first album."

On September 18, 2012 Meat And Bone will appear on record store shelves and online distributors worldwide courtesy of Boombox/Mom+Pop Records, distributed by Sony Music Entertainment.

“What will it sound like,” you ask? Similar to the band's earliest beginnings, in fact. After the band's opulent reissue campaign, the desire to scale things back to basics was palpable and Meat And Bone reflects that urge. This time, with no “all-star production teams,” “special guests” or any other expensive rigmarole hanging on, JSBX has kept it simple and just elected to rock the hell out of the masses left dew-eyed by the remastered mania of their catalog. This is straight-up, Grade A Blues Explosion, produced and mixed by Mr. Spencer himself. Meat And Bone is twelve prime cuts of raw rock 'n' roll, recorded on Sly Stone's "Riot" Flickinger console at the legendary Key Club Recording Studio in Benton Harbor, MI, and mixed in the jungles of New York City. Judah Bauer, Russell Simins and Jon Spencer continue to blow minds with their fusillade of energy and rhythm, and have once again proven that the Blues is #1! Here's the track list for Meat And Bone:

1. Black Mold
2. Bag Of Bones
3. Boot Cut
4. Get Your Pants Off
5. Ice Cream Killer
6. Strange Baby
7. Bottle Baby
8. Danger
9. Black Thoughts
10. Unclear
11. Bear Trap
12. Zimgar

But, as they say in show business, that's not all.
