The long-awaited fifth studio album by Tegan and Sara is scheduled for a July 24th release on Vapor/Sanctuary Records.
Tegan and Sara, who saw their single "Walking with a Ghost" covered by The White Stripes, continue to develop as songwriters with an unmistakably distinctive vocal style. As the follow up to the critically-acclaimed 2004 release SO JEALOUS - named one of the fifty best albums of 2004 by Rolling Stone magazine - THE CON introduces 14 new tracks showcasing the evolution of Tegan and Sara's melodic and rhythmic vision.
Co-produced by Christopher Walla (Death Cab for Cutie, The Decemberists) with Tegan Quin and Sara Quin, the record was cut in Portland, Oregon at Walla's Alberta Court studio. Having taken a break after the success and non-stop touring behind SO JEALOUS, Tegan and Sara spent months apart while continuing to write and record
songs that would eventually make the cut on THE CON. Using their self-produced home recordings as the template for the final recording process with Walla, they collaborated with Death Cab's Jason McGerr on drums along with AFI's Hunter Burgan and The Rentals' Matt Sharp both on bass.
Tegan and Sara will take their show on the road with a special series of intimate performances in July and August, before embarking on a national theatre tour in October.
