Sigur Ros Announces Fall 2008 Tour Dates

The following sentence is not hyperbole: The greatest concert I have ever seen was one performed by Sigur Rós. In fact, the second best concert I have ever seen was also performed by Sigur Rós. The music is transcendent, Jónsi’s voice both alien and comforting, the video installations are weird yet apt. The first time I caught them (via a free ticket to the Wiltern), their rendition of "Hafsól"—which was radically different than the version on Von—was so violent that I found myself curled up into a ball with white knuckled fists once the smoke cleared. So yeah, you could say I'm at least somewhat happy to announce that the band will hit the road this fall to support the as-yet-unreleased Með suð í eyrum við spilum endalaust.

According to the band's camp "the shows this Fall will see the band performing as a four-piece for the first time in almost ten years," which I can assume means that they are leaving the ladies from Amiina, their normal backing quartet, at home.
