With the release of Midnight Movies' lauded LP, Lion the Girl, lurking (April 24 on New Line Records), the quartet is poised to bring its haunting melodies to a city near you.
The band's 60s-inspired sounds will serve as a perfect aperitif to the Raveonette's fuzzy noise pop, when the two journey up the West Coast together this June. But first, Midnight Movies will head out with art rockers Blonde Redhead for several supporting shows across the country. A hometown gig with kindred spirits Autolux will bridge the two treks.
Lion the Girl, a patchwork of swirling psychedelia and dark, cinematic pop, is garnering rave reviews from press and fans alike, and has made quite an impact on influential Los Angeles DJ Nic Harcourt. The host of KCRW's "Morning Becomes Eclectic" has invited the band to perform live on the show May 8. Midnight Movies will be the musical guests on Fuel TV’s "The Daily Habit," Tuesday, April 10, performing "Souvenirs" and "Lion Song." The show airs at 9:00 pm EST (6:00 pm PST).
