Kicking off May 1 in L.A., the mighty Mastodon are embarking on what looks to be a pretty insane summer tour. A nice change from last year’s arena tour with Slayer—not that it’s bad, just different. It will be nice to get all intimate with the guys in front of say, 4000 people, rather than 18,000.
By the end of the tour, Mastodon’s 5th full-length, Blood Mountain , will have been circling the planet for a full year, ruling over every other metal record to hit the shelves. It looks like bands may have heard this album and traded in their Kramers and Jacksons for a Takamine acoustic, since the past few months have been pretty quiet as far as solid metal albums are concerned (If I’m wrong here, please give me some suggestions). Not sure about Against Me or Cursive though, so perhaps you can get drunk in the parking lot and show up when Mastodon go on.
