[Editor's Note] One of the fringe benefits to being in a band is that you're able to see the world doing something you love. Really, how great is that? If you're in a band and brave enough to hit the road in support of an album you made, there is the outside possibility that you'll get to see places you wouldn't have had the opportunity to otherwise, and even make a few dollars (maybe) and win a few new fans in the process. That's a pretty exciting prospect, right?
It certainly was for Family Of The Year. Having just returned from a European tour, the Los Angeles-based folk band was brimming with excitement upon their return; they'd seen some wonderful things, played some fantastic shows and met some excellent people, and they were only too happy to show Ground Control the experience. What follows is Family Of The Year keyboardist Christina Schroeter's word's eye view of touring through Europe.

We went to Europe. Here are our travel essentials.
Now we're home, but here's a little bit of what happened! We'll spare you the boring airport story, but obviously that's how we got to Europe in the first place. Here's a picture of it!
We arrived in Paris on Joe's birthday, so obviously we had to celebrate. We walked around Paris, took pictures like American tourists do, drank wine, and ate our first French steaks. It was soooo chill.
The next few days were filled with radio promo, photo shoots, interviews, and a video shoot. We popped over to England for a few shows, and by the way whoever invented the Chunnel is a genius. We did some more radio promo and ran into our LA friends GROUPLOVE at one of our BBC6 interviews! Who knew!
The shows were awesome. We played on a boat in Lille!
Paris was nuts! It was sold out, which was pretty cool for us! Seriously, we will never forget our night at Maroquinerie. But most importantly, we'll probably never be able to say it correctly – let's go to the videotape for that!
Oh, Brussels. I think each of us drank more beer that night than we ever have ever in our lives, ever. Thankfully there are pictures so we can remember this beautiful city!
We found this on the wall at the venue in Toulouse. We're thinking of re-branding ourselves.
Sean plays bass with us. These are some things you need to know about him: Sean says "right now" after every phrase whether or not "right now" is pertinent to the situation at hand, and now we all use "right now" at inappropriate times and it's seriously driving us crazy right now Sean's name is now pronounced "Seen" right now Sean is 30 minutes late right now .
Now here are some very important photos of Jamesy.
