Day/Track 1 – Pukkelpop Intro
Can you say exciting? I know I’m crazy, but starting off a trip to the sound of 150,000 people says I’m about to go on a journey. I’m self-admitting myself to Pukkelpop. I hear this place has been around since I’ve been born, and legends have divulged their abilities here. Everyone should be a believer of Pukkelpop when people like the Ramones and The Killers have dropped in on this place. Insanity does only one thing, and that is the unexpected. Consider this the Pukklepop Insane Asylum. As the sound of the fans fade a nurse admitted me to track 2.

Day/Track 2 – Dr. Lektroluv is one smart guy. He’s been known to rock out since the beginning of the twenty-first century. He is also known for the green mask he wears. He wears it so much that no one knows his real face. If you’re having trouble picturing it, consider a Hulk/James Bond lovechild. The mask is odd for a normal doctor, but this guy is known for his ability on the tables. When he puts out his work in albums he always has two things every time. The first is his name in the title of the album and second is remixes from the greatest groups around the world. He knows that I’m not insane enough to be in an institution, so to show how normal I am he’s having me sit down with a bunch of his people. The first person he is having me meet is Mr. Magnetiks. Magnetiks is in the institution for giving off an influx of magnetization that puts people on charge. I didn’t believe at first, but I could hear the crowd cheer him on as he told me something. His voice was so electro I couldn’t understand him, but he gave off this gnarly beat that totally got me pumped up for what followed. When I left the room Mr. Magnetiks told me, “You've Been Magnitized (Green Edit),”

Day/Track 3 – Dr. Lektroluv introduced me to a group called Machines Don’t Care. They gave me their best, called “Beat Bang.” These cats roll with a hard beat. It was definitely something that made it easy for me to feel comfortable here. I stayed for a short while, but I heard the next day calling me, telling me something about France and dancing. Quite the catchy phrase if you ask me.

Day/Track 4 – Hey, I know these guys. I wasn’t expecting them to be here. I said hi to Fischerspooner and hung with them for a little bit. These guys know how to have a subtle beginning, and then really drop the heavy-heavy on me. I felt like leaving the country just so I could “Danse En France (D.I.M. Remix).” For every room I’m in I get more than I ask for. After they dropped it on me part way through my visit I didn’t know what to do with myself. I may have carried over the electrical charge from previous days here, but these guys made me feel great. Dr. Lektroluv said it was fine, being quoted before saying, "Everything has an electronic feel, from Italo to house and from electro to techno."

Day/Track 11 – I think I might be getting worse. I’ve lost track of a few pages from my journal. There are some nutso people in here. I’m sitting today with Busy P. He is telling me through the words of Murs that the only thing to do in life is to “To Protect And Entertain (Crookers Remix).” Busy’s really pushing me to my limit. I’m seeing things, I feel extremely happy and the electro-mids just want me to move. Murs and Busy P sure do swear quite a bit. I assume it’s because they are completely gangster.

Day/Track 14 – I took a few days off from this journal and just enjoyed my time here. Today I had to capture what I went through. I spent what felt like a short moment with a good friend of mine, Moby. We go way back. He was telling me about how old school takes me back. We both agreed that the drop on this track was what I felt was the highlight of the album. When the beat peaced out for a moment and left me with the mids and highs, then just busted back into room again I regained full consciousness of who I am and what my life’s goal was: To repeat my stay here as long as possible. I wanted to replay this day over and over, but knew I eventually had to move on. It was hard for me to do.

Day/Track 22 – It’s my last day here. They gave me a going-away gift, a “Star Guitar” made by Shincichi Osawa. I love a great goodbye, especially when they leave me with one of my favorite tracks of all time. Leaving on a high note is just like those concerts where you get everything you want: that one cute girl’s number, your favorite beer, and you get to catch a sunrise with nothing set in stone for the next twenty-four hours. Having an ending like this can be captured no other way. I hope you can feel what I feel, but you’d have to take what I take. Usually it’s nothing but an open mind, but even that is hard to come by these days. I think I’ll be coming back to visit Dr. Lektroluv again. I have a feeling we’ll become great friends in the future. I hope he comes to visit me in Los Angeles some time; I’d love to catch something like this live with everyone up front and center.
