Cage The Elephant may have been the band who struck gold saying that there ain't no rest for the wicked but, in the two years since releasing their third album, Billy Talent has proven it to be true, having set an iron man's tour itinerary which has seen them perform in virtually every quadrant of four continents. They've embarked on incredibly successful tours and played some of the largest, most venerable festivals in the world (including Leeds, Reading, Festival D'Ete, Area 4, Frequency and Ottawa Blues Fest to name only a few) and seemed to take the absolute minimum of time off in between trips; their energy reserve has seemed to be limitless. Now – after taking the longest breather they've enjoyed in quite some time (BT came off the road after a fantastic set at Heavy T.O. In Downsview Park, Toronto on July 24, 2011), Billy Talent have announced that they're ready for another bout. Billy Talent have entered the studio to begin recording their fourth studio album slated for release in the late Spring of 2012.  The as-yet-untitled album is being recorded in Vancouver and Toronto and is being produced by the band’s guitarist Ian D’Sa who has previously produced tracks for Die Mannequin, Flash Lightning and Indian Handcrafts.

Even since the announcement was made yesterday, conjecture about what shape the new release will take and what sound will come from the new album has begun to circulate, as well as what its title will be (such details haven't been confirmed yet). Other than the word that the wheels have begun to turn again, no other information has been made available, but there's no question that fans will be watching closely; after the leaps and bounds the band has made over the last eight years, there's little doubt that what comes next will be an all-new high-water mark for the band.
