Remember that creepy painter dude with the white “fro” on TV who would teach you how to paint bad-ass landscapes and whatnot? Yep, Bob Ross. Well, that’s who’s responsible for the newly unveiled album art for Annuals’ upcoming album, Such Fun, due out October 7. Coincidentally it’s on Canvasback Recordings, which makes me think that one of the peeps in the band—Adam Baker, Kenny Florence, Zack Oden, Donzel Radford, Mike Robinson or Anna Spence—broke into Bob’s house, stole the painting and Bob came out yelling, “Hey, I want my canvas back!” No? Nothing? Oh well….
The other pieces of news here are some fall tour dates with Minus the Bear, Helms Alee, Themes, New Year and Sylvie. Unfortunately not all of them are touring together and I’ll be missing Helms Alee since they are not gonna be in Chicago. And to get you all pumped up for the new release, Annuals are offering a taste of what’s to come with a free download for the lead-off track, “Confessor.” It’s a beautiful track with roots in 70s soft rock and would quite nicely on a mix cd with Midlake.
