Anjulie, the latest signing to Hear Music, is set to release her debut album in the Spring, but as a little teaser, she’s releasing “The Boom EP” and a free mp3 single, “Boom,” simply to let everyone know she ain’t no joke.
Sounds coming from this song alone evoke late-90s down tempo like Lamb and Laika, swanky 60s-era Nancy Sinatra, all while taking off where Ms. Crackhead herself, Amy Winehouse, left off. “Boom” will soon saturate the blogs and provide a 5-month runway from which her debut to take off.
Co-written with her producer and collaborator Jon Levine (of Canadian R&B hit makers the Philosopher Kings), Anjulie sets intensely personal stories about her life, loves, obsessions, and heartbreaks to a glittering genre-blending mix of pop, hip-hop, rock, and world rhythms she heard as a child growing up.
