Holy hell it’s been a long time since I posted one of these. I can’t exactly tell you why, but at least I have been collecting mp3s during my absence. And I’ve actually found some pretty nice gems mixed in with the songs that have been clogging the blogs as of late. Songs like Kristoffer Ranstam’s “Swing That Tambourine” and my personal favorite discovery of the past month or so: “Nowheres High” by Parts and Labor. Who the hell are Parts and Labor you ask? Well, I had no idea either, until the press release came through and I clicked on the freebie as I generally do. The song is just pure indie goodness. It’s not sappy or weird for weird’s sake, it’s just a good song, and should be a top single on the charts, but unfortunately for them—and a lot of other bands that deserve more airplay—it’ll most likely be attached with the sad tag “cult favorite,” which means a few people REALLY dug them.
Oh well, now to the meat of the sandwich. We’ve got some Kings of Leon, Mercury Rev, “Mercury” by Bloc Party coincidentally, a DOPE remix of “The Geeks Were Right” by Does It Offend You, Yeah?, and the lead single from The Verve, “Mover.”
