Twin Peaks: The Original Series, Fire Walk With Me & The Missing Pieces blu-ray
How does describe or even explain a show like Twin Peaks? It’s reputation definitely precedes it, and for good reason. Twenty five years and countless questions later we’re no closer to getting to the bottom of this show. But one thing is certain, unless you get on board early on and accept that Twin Peaks follows its own bizarre rules, you’re in for a rough ride.
The easiest way to describe Twin Peaks would be a teen drama about the murder of Laura Palmer. But that’s doing the show a terrible disservice, because this is all taking place within the mysterious soap opera world of Twin Peaks. Experiencing it through the eyes of Special Agent Cooper we are introduced to strange and colorful characters, deeply flawed yet redeemable, seemingly one-dimensional but also just a little off, all stuck in this altered reality. It’s like this world exists in another dimension where the laws of physics simply don’t make sense. Weird doesn’t begin to describe it.
The blu ray release of Twin Peak is just about the only thing that makes sense in the history of this show. The video has been remastered and looks absolutely gorgeous especially when you consider the show has only ever been broadcast on TV 20+ years ago. In this 9 disc set we also get previews and recaps, promotional videos, image galleries, deleted scenes, log lady intros, the crazy Firewalk With Me movie which sheds light on who exactly Laura Palmer was, and a supplementary 90 minutes of deleted scenes from the movie (all absolutely essential for those who want to truly uncover the mystery of Laura Palmer).
Twenty Five years have passed since Twin Peaks first entered our minds and shook our brains and 25 years later it’s still difficult to make heads or tails of this world. Its mystery is what draws us to it, and a show like this doesn’t come around very often. It truly has to be seen to be believed.
