OBN III’s Worth a Lot of Money

My relationship with the OBNII’s is complicated. I saw them open for Ex-Cult in Boston several years ago, and I’ll be damned if they didn’t steal the show. With a sound that I can only describe as Led Zeppelin-fueled garage rock, the OBNII’s looked and sounded like a bunch of homeless hooligans with nothing to lose. In other words, I had to get their albums immediately.

Unfortunately, such a wild sound proved a bit difficult to capture on record. Sure, the riffs and hooks are there, but the loud explosion of their shows was magic that has unfortunately escaped the OBNIIs in the studio. That is, until Worth a Lot of Money.

Money is right, because this record is the money shot for the OBNIII’s: it all comes together on this album. All the loveable elements are there: the adrenaline, the catchy melodies, and just a little bit of sleaze. Top that all off with a studio recording worthy of the noise these guys are capable of. I’m doing the Italian gesture for delicious and you can’t even tell.

From the very beginning of Trash Heap, Worth a Lot of Money takes off like an unstoppable train of adrenaline showing us rock and roll perfection in songs like New Money, 4KD, and Standing. I dare you not to bob your head to this ride.

There is absolutely no doubt that this is the go-to OBNII’s record. It’s all right here, and shame on you if you let it pass you by.
