Sometimes, even when you know something's coming, it's still pretty exciting to hear when it's getting close. That was the case when, late last year, singer Chris Cresswell announced that The Flatliners were working on new material for a new album to be released "in Spring of 2013." The announcement instantly generated excitement among the band's fans, but that was really all the information that the singer let slip; no name was given for the new album, no song titles, not much of anything other than the fact that the band wanted to return to a rawer sound compared to their breakthrough release, Cavalcade. That kind of talk was exciting, but fans had no choice but to wait patiently again for more information about a new album, and the band kept tight-lipped.

Well, lips have loosened a bit now. On June 12, 2013 the name, release date and album artwork of The Flatliners' fourth long-player was announced – the album will be called Dead Language, and it will be released on September 17, 2013 by New Damage Records in Canada and Fat Wreck Chords in the U.S.

Recorded by long-time producer Steve Rizun, Dead Language is the band’s most personal and invigorating record to date. The album features thirteen new tracks filled with intelligent songwriting, arena-sized choruses, big guitars and a distinct musical fluidity that comes with playing together as a band for over ten years.

Known for putting on a killer live show, The Flatliners will bring their “perfect concoction of break-neck guitar rhythms, complimentary solos, sing-along lyrics and danceable interludes” to a slew of Canadian cities over the next few months. The Flatliners will be performing at NXNE opening up for legendary L.A Punk band Social Distortion at Yonge and Dundas Square today as part of the North By Northeast music festival, and all confirmed tour dates are listed below:
