It’s hard for me to knock New Found Glory. First of all, I didn’t know they were still around. Second of all, I saw them play at Vans Warped Tour almost ten years ago and their lead singer, Jordan Pundik, had thrown out his back the night before. He was in obvious pain, but he was out there giving it his all. He sounded awful, But, that didn’t matter; he still tried and it impressed me.

Radiosurgery is the Florida pop punk outfit's seventh release. It’s hard for me to believe that their genre, let alone their band, has lasted so long.

Take one listen to the title track from Radiosurgery, and its like the band never realized they were supposed to go away, either. Themes of defiance and lost chances with girls, who just sound like a bunch of bitches, are right up there at the front. Oh, the romantic trouble of a pop punker. Chicks just won’t ever understand. I can feel that.

New Found Glory brings the energy track after track and I’m still scratching my head as to how Jordan can keep doing that to his voice. I’d need to pick up a palette of Ricolas if I were going to sing like that for even a day.

The things that have made the makers of this genre “punk” at all (aside from the simplistic drums), are the short tracks. Listening to Radiosurgery is a much better way to spend a half an hour, than subjecting yourself to Two and a Half Men. It’s a fact. I didn’t make it up.

Maybe, it’s not fair of me to say that…but, I haven’t listened to any bands like this in years. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve got respect for New Found Glory, it’s just not my style anymore. But, if you’re keen on hearing about how shitty girls are and how important having a good group of friends is, and having that mixed with some over the top guitar licks, then the sounds of New Found Glory will sit just fine in your ears. Hey, at least they stuck to their guns and didn’t fold to public pressure, and that's admirable.
