Shiny Toy Guns could’ve gone a few different routes to better the world. They could’ve collected toys, as in Toys for Tots. Or they could’ve collected guns (no questions asked) to get those violent weapons off the streets. Or, better yet, they could’ve collected toy guns for tots. But, after a long deliberation between the band members, they decided on a free concert at the Hard Rock Café in Chicago to benefit Illinois Hunger Coalition.

They did manage to weave in their band name (sort of) by making the price of admission 4 canned-food donations (or 4 non-perishable food items). Shiny cans of food, get it? Yeah, I know…

It’s a pretty generous stop for a long tour supporting their latest album, Season of Poison, which dropped a few weeks ago thanks to Universal Motown. So, if you’re in the Chicago area and have a few cans of Campbell's soup or some Bush’s baked beans or, my personal favorite, SpaghettiOs, come downtown, get in line and help someone eat. Times are tough right now, but I’m sure we can all muster up a little goodness for a semi-free show.
