People always say that I’m nuts. Loco. Insane. Incomprehensible. It could be that I’m bi-polar, schizophrenic and manic-depressive in a blender with extra curry, but it could also be captured in a music video by N.E.R.D. that makes no freaking sense at all. That sentence didn’t make sense either. Whatever, let’s get smashed off Patron and Verbally View and Vitiate this Video.
N.E.R.D. exploded onto the scene in 2001 with the album In Search of… where we all learned how to “Lapdance”—their hit single from the album. Their music comes from a skater world infused with hip-hop and a history of production with famous artists from Kanye West to Lil’ Wayne. “Everyone Nose” N.E.R.D.’s latest video is a club setting with the type of music you’d never hear in a club. The lyrics speak of the women at the club who get carelessly drunk, but don’t care about anything else. The video is so intense, you feel like you’re partaking in the event.
Question One. Is the music video 99% stuff other than the artist's head? Yes, it’s 99% other people’s heads. On occasion you see the artist for a split second, but for the most part you’re “getting smashed” with your peeps at a club. Or random people you don’t know, but you’re drunk, so who cares? Where’s the Bathroom? Jesus, look at that line. Dude, there’s a lot of women in line. I’m totally going to make out with them. Oh the score, One Point!
Question Two. Is the cinematography pure awesomeness? Hell yes. It’s so hardcore I want to throw up every time I watch it. I fell like I’m drunk, on speed, ecstasy, and I’m totally sexy like Brad Pitt and am making out with all these hot women everywhere. Upon second viewing, the women did not seem hot. Just as if I were drunk the first time I met them! Amazing! Point N.E.R.D.! That’s two for two. Now let’s do two shots!
Question Three. Is the video easy to follow? Do you know what’s goin' on? Hell no I don’t know what’s going on. Holy shit, was that Lindsay Lohan? Dude, can I get her autograph? Holy shit I’m so drunk right now. Dude, the bartender is smashing the ice sculpture. What the hell was the ice sculpture of? Wait, is that a bartender or is that Big Boi from Outkast? Holy crap, can I get his autograph? Oh the score for this category? Technically I’m drunk in a club, totally smashed and making out what I think to be hot women, but I still don’t know what’s going on so I’ll give N.E.R.D. a half point. Way to go fellas! Time for Patron! Holy crap, is that girl sucking on a hundred-dollar bill?
Question Four. Does the theme stay consistent throughout the video? Yes. Dude, I just told you I’m totally smashed, in a club making out with a ton of women. Hang on, let’s take a photo for my MySpace page. Sweet. Dude you’re totally going on my top friend list. I’ll give you the point rather than N.E.R.D. Well, I guess I’ll give them a point too.
