When Weezer released Weezer in 1993, and Weezer in 2001, it’s about time they announced a new album, Weezer on June 24, 2008, on DGC/Interscope. The good thing for us is that this album has a new color, so like a crazy cult, we’ll all refer to this one as “The Red Album.” This is all a big ploy to pay homage to the primary colors since Blue and Green have already been used—let’s hope they don’t release White anytime soon.
Comprised of sessions produced by Rick Rubin, Jacknife Lee and the band itself, the album is adventurous and undeniable Weezer pop-rock. The first single, “Pork and Beans,” sounds like Rivers is shopping at Target, rattling off such products as Rogaine, Oakley, and Timbaland (yes, this guy is a product). The song, which will be available to buy digitally on April 22, is already at Modern Rock Radio and a video will be available in early May.
Stay tuned for tour dates, which I’m sure will be announced soon.
