WHAT: I Think You Should Leave
WHY: I know we’re supposed to be in a comedy bubble that just won’t pop, but the lack of good sketch comedy that it’s brought is alarming. Maybe the last mainstream subversive sketch comedy show was Key and Peele and their presence is sorely missed. Lucky for us, Tim Robinson’s new show I Think You Should Leave fills that hole.
Robinson’s presence on SNL went unnoticed and unappreciated and like most of its cast, he’s managed to do his best work OUTSIDE the show. I Think You Should Leave is definitely unpolished at times but when it hits its mark, it’s glorious to behold. The show has both plot and character driven stuff that any comedy fan will be able to appreciate. And the fact that it can legitimately surprise its audience with the punchline says a lot. In a sea of mediocrity I Think You Should Leave manages to stand out with some truly memorable and quotable sketches. This is how legends are made.
