After a year and a half of relentless touring in support of The Fire in Our Throats Will Beckon the Thaw, critical instru-metal darlings Pelican are putting the finishing touches on their upcoming album, City of Echoes. Recorded in Steve Albini's famed Electrical Audio with Andrew Schneider (Daughters, Keelhaul, Cave In, Unsane), the album is now in the final mixing stages and is set to be released May 22nd on Hydra Head. The new record promises to be the most diverse, complex and cohesive set of songs yet. Those lucky enough to have caught them on their 2006 fall West Coast/Canadian tour were treated to early performances of "City of Echoes," "Bliss in Concrete," "Dead Between the Walls," and "Spaceship Broken – Parts Needed" off of their upcoming album.

Pelican will also take on the ambitious task of releasing After the Ceiling Cracked, a live DVD/ 3" CD/12", in mid-2007. The live DVD features a headlining show in London with Jesu mastermind Justin Broadrick mixing sound and Michael Ward of Muckspreader directing, as well as photos and extra footage of the band from the past five years. Joining the DVD will be a 3" CD that features "Pink Mammoth", a major-key reworking or their early song "Mammoth", and a remix by electronic artist Prefuse 73. The 12" will be the vinyl version of those two cuts.
