If you didn’t catch the previous Ground Control update concerning Jimmy Eat World, then shame on you… The gist of it is that Jimmy Eat World is back and they’ve announced the release of their third full length, Chase This Light, to be released October 16.  This is the old news that all you slackers missed.

What is new to share, however, is that Jimmy Eat World has now announced a North American US tour to coincide with the release of said new album.  The tour begins with a stop in the band’s home state of Arizona on September 29, and works for the most part along the west coast through much of October, to come to an end in Sin City on October 20.  For all of you East Coast and Midwest J.E.W. fans lamenting that they aren’t stopping in your town, rest assured that there are more dates that have yet to be announced.

Also, new information concerning the sound of Chase This Light has been made available.  According to executive producer Butch Vig (yes…THAT Butch Vig) the album can be described as "Quite eclectic. There are three or four songs that sound like classic Jimmy Eat World, with angular, razor-sharp guitars. There are a couple that are a lot more dreamy, and some that are very groove-acious."  If that isn’t a good enough description for you, you can check out a stream of the first single, “Big Casino” on the band’s website here: http://www.jimmyeatworld.com/
